The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced the death of one of its pilots involved in the aircraft crash while rehearsing for the Independence Day celebration. Earlier reports had suggested that no life was lost in the crash. However, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola has announced the death of one pilot.

According to Daramola, one of the pilots who successfully ejected from one of the F-7Ni aircraft that crashed earlier today passed on few hours after the incidence.
