In a statement made on Tuesday 29 January by the Acting Force Information Officer of Operation Sharan Daji, troops had reportedly killed 21 suspected bandits in a gun brawl, rescuing 89 hostages in Bukkuyum area of Zamfara state. About 17 bandits were also reportedly captured alive, while their camps were destroyed.

In related news, guns and ammunition were recovered from a wipe-out operation in Katsina state, while some suspects were arrested following the discovery. Meanwhile, the residents of Zamfara have been assured a commitment by troops to rid the state of all forms of crime and criminality in line with its mandate, urging them likewise, to cooperate with the troops in providing personnel with relevant band timely information.
