President Paul Biya Records Landslide Victory To win Re-Election
Cameroon President Paul Biya has been re-elected with 71.3 percent of the vote in this month’s election. Opposition candidate Maurice Kamto came second with 14.2 percent.
Victory, which gives the 85-year-old a seventh term in office, came amid claims from opposition candidates that the election was fraudulent. Scattered violence connected to a separatist movement in the western Anglophone regions also kept most people from voting.
