Operation Python Dance: Egwu Eke Troops avert farmers-herders clash in Abia State
A farmer- herder clash was reportedly averted by troops on Operation Python Dance 111(Egwueke 111) in Ohafia Local Government of Abia state. Sources report that the soldiers got wind of information that some herdsmen had supposedly allowed a flock of cows graze and destroy farm crops, which led to the killing of five cows. This quick response by the Egwueke 111 had reportedly been a follow-up on series of events and actions that had been taken by the group in the state.
These actions and occurrences had reportedly occurred between the 20th and 27th of January 2019, and were contained in a statement titled “Update on Exercise Egwu Eke 111 in the South East geopolitical zone” signed by Colonel Sagir Musa, Deputy Director of Public Relations, 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, on Tuesday 29th January. However, peace had allegedly been restored since in the zone.
