Niger Delta Militants Warn Buhari to Cease Onnoghen Trial or Risk Oil Well Attacks
In what appeared to be warnings, the Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators on Sunday, 13th January, through an e-mail, vied to lay attacks on oil wells in the region if the incumbent President failed to cease the persecution of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen. Claiming astonishment over the said arraignment, the group allegedly claimed that the said case was a plot by His Excellency to forcefully take out the judge and have him replaced by his loyalist.
Recalling past events, the group reportedly asserted that the President had for long held the appointment of Onnoghen until his Vice did so in his absence as acting President, as well as demoted the most senior officer acting as a Director Gen. of the state department services, Matthew Seiyefa, to a most junior Northern officer, Mr. Bichi, owing to his background as a Bayelsan.
