Middle-Belt Forum Join Amnesty International, Raise Alarm of Fresh Killings
The President of the MBF asserting a 2018 Amnesty International’s (AI) report has raised awareness on renewed mass killings in the region. Mourning the killings, the MBF leader further joined AI in condemning the inactivity of the federal military which has supposedly contributed largely to the massacres, reportedly claiming cover-up of the murders by the troops. The killings which have allegedly risen from incessant farmer/herdsmen conflicts, has reportedly claimed about 5,113 in the last 11 months of 2018.
Further owing to an increase in killings in the region, the group convinced that the underlying cause is a deliberate attempt by the government to is not only a deliberate ploy by criminal herdsmen to seize large swathes of land belonging to ethnic nationalities; it is a strategic warfare being waged against the people to prosecute a systemic ethnic cleansing campaign.
