There was confusion at the resumed sitting of the of the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, on Tuesday, November 27 as the five APC lawmakers met and commenced impeachment proceedings against the state Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel.

The five lawmakers were the ones whose seats were recently declared vacant by the speaker of the House,  Mr. Onofiok Luke. They reportedly arrived early at the assembly complex with thugs and heavily armed policemen and with a mace to commence the impeachment of the governor. However, the attempted impeachment was foiled as the governor arrived the venue with members of his cabinet and security details and with the help of some youths to pursue the 5 lawmakers out of the assembly premises.
