BREAKING: INEC declares Osun guber election inconclusive

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Saturdays Osun state governorship election inconclusive. The returning officer, Joseph Afuwape, announced this at the head office of the commission in Osogbo, the state capital. According to the Returning Officer, the declaration was because the number of cancelled votes was higher than the margin between the two top candidates.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke ‎scored 254,698, while the All Progressive Congress candidate, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola scored 256,345 leaving a gap of 353 votes. The total number of voided votes was 3498.

Afuwape said the date for a rerun would be announced in due time.
