Boko Haram Penetrates Maiduguri, Threatens Residents
Members of the Boko Haram were on Thursday, 10th January feared to have infiltrated villages in Maiduguri. According to Army sources, the action was intended to instill fear in the residents, causing them to vacate their homes. However, the army has in turn urged residents to immediately report suspicious persons to authorities.
Further, the army in a statement made by its Director of public relations, acknowledged awareness of the activities of the sect in the area and the threats being passed by them. Conversely, it urged residents to forge on and report any suspicious acts, as failure to do so would equal to “collaboration” with the terrorists, in which case such persons would be handled likewise, as terrorists.
