Boko Haram terrorists, believed to be a faction of the Islamic State fighters, have allegedly attacked a base of the Nigerian Army in the Gashigar area of Borno State, during which a soldier was killed and four others injured.

The military said its troops, however, fought back the invasion and killed scores of the terrorists who were sighted in 13 gun trucks. There have been at least nine military base attacks since July, mostly in the northern part of Borno state, near the shores of Lake Chad.
