Alleged Herdsmen Invasion Gets One Shot as Women, Youths Protest in Delta
In a protest expressing dismay over the killing of a community fisherman in Agadama, Ughelli North Delta state by herdsmen, yet another person has been reportedly shot, while several others sustained injuries in Agadama community. According to the protesters made up of women and youths, a group of about 100 herdsmen were sighted penetrating into the community, and at about 2a:m on Monday, 14th January, and they had decided to ambush them with the help of troops stationed at Bomadi.
However, at the Army’s arrival, the protesters had barricaded the road and refused them passage, leading in turn to the shooting of a youth identified as Vincent in his leg. Additionally, the protesters accused the Army of liaising with the herdsmen to advance their aim. The victim was however rushed to the Ughelli Central hospital for medical care.
