Security Agents, Obstacles to Credible Polls: Saraki
The Senate President condemned the use of security bodies at polling booths during the elections, because they collaborate with politicians to deprive voter rights. He disagreed with militarizing elections, as it defeats the purpose of free and credible ballot.
Saraki reiterated the importance of the INEC in ensuring that the Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) were accorded to only registered voters, because they are as important as the ballot itself. On the issue of vote buying, he emphasized that it is a parasite that should be quickly detracted from the system, and urged the INEC to focus on reducing card reader failures during the polls, as it would greatly reduce potential ambiguities.
