
16 Police Officers Slain by Armed Bandits in Zamfara
The Police recovered the bodies of 16 officers killed by armed bandits in Zamfara, in a Tuesday press release. The State Police Command in a statement signed by Muhammad Shehu, its spokesperson, adding that while the bodies of 16 police officers were recovered, 20 other officers were rescued after a rescue operation carried out by the Police Joint Intervention Force.
The Inspector General of Police condoling with the families of the deceased, also ordered prompt payment of the deceased officers’ entitlements to their families. Additionally, the Zamfara State police had commenced a search and rescue operation of residents and commuters who might have disappeared during the attack with three surveillance patrol in the state.
In a statement made by the police, normalcy had since been restored in the affected areas after defusing 104 bandits and arresting 85 others.
